Maximize your job search networking
Networking is a powerful tool to foster strong relationships and build your career—but for many of us, it doesn’t come naturally!
Get the most from our face-to-face events and your own job search networking with these tips.
DO:
- Bring plenty of business cards
- Download our app in advance of the meeting
- Review the attendee list
- Identify 3-5 target companies where you’d like networking introductions
- Practice your 60-second introduction
- Your name and title/profession
- Your current and/or desired position
- Name(s) of your target companies and/or career opportunities
- Join our invitation-only LinkedIn Group
- Get to know other members with one-on-one calls or meetings outside of our bi-monthly events
- Respond promptly to introductions and requests from members
- Attend and “give back” even when you’re not actively seeking a new position
DON’T:
- Let your network die! Stay involved, even when you’re happy in your current opportunity
- Be intimidated by professional speaking; the more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll become
- Take rejection in a job search personally
